The Racist Slur

If you want to discredit your political opponent - just pull the racist card and boy the public seem to swallow it every time.

Should the Republican Party Dump Trump As the Nominee? A Daily Intel Chat

By Jonathan Chait  and Ed Kilgore

So. . . I was reading this article in the “Daily Intelligencer” about whether the Republican Party should “Dump Trump” So today's story begins with and article by Jonathan Chait, a Left wing Jewish journalist who writes for New York Magazine (He is joined in this article by his colleague Ed Kilgore).

Some people will remember Chait for his “Case for Bush Hatred” in which he expressed his angry feelings for George Bush as a Politician as well as a person.

So he tells us of reports circulating that “ . . . various Republican insiders are plotting to steal the nomination from him, probably by using the Rules Committee to unbind all of the delegates and let them vote for a nominee who isn't transparently insane and racist”.

So Bad Cop Chait is aggressively anti Republican and violently anti-Trump (which is good to know since objectivity is not a necessity in leftist articles, at least as far as I can see). Good Cop Kilgore, presents a moderate response, who expresses his doubts about whether the rug can be pulled from Trump at this late stage.

Chai tells us that the Republicans can’t stand Trump (which seems to be accurate) and are scrambling for a way to get rid of him and still nominate another viable candidate in time, he states that the only reason Trump has even made it this far is his appeal to the Racist sentiments of older conservatives, he then ruefully says the Republicans just don't have the guts to dump Trump.

They go on to discuss the viability of this idea and the various technicalities of the process which gets a bit tedious for me . . .

What stands out is. . .

Always the racist Card

Surely Trump, as well as man of the moment Nigel Farage knows full well the Racist card is a highly emotional political tool which any politician would use to discredit his opponent if possible and, especially used as a Democrat ploy against the Republicans.

You would think the public would have gotten wise to this by Now but no. . . it works every time.

If you want to discredit your political opponent - just pull the racist card and boy the public seem to swallow it every time. Even this Chait guy is totally sold out on it as if he truly believes all Republicans, especially Trump are racists, no matter how strenuously they deny it and produce any amount of evidence to the contrary, once the label is used, it seems to stick.

The Whole Racist card was pulled out agains Nigel Farage as well. . . is it truly justified?

Brexit and Racism

If we turn now, to an article in “The Washington Post” by Adam Taylor who hails from London, he heads his article with this

“The uncomfortable question: Was the Brexit vote based on racism?”

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/worldviews/wp/2016/06/25/the-uncomfortable-question-was-the-brexit-vote-based-on-racism/?tid=hybrid_experimentrandom_1_na

Immediately my eye falls on a tweet in which another individual buys into the racist issue purely on the basis of a political slur.

he says  . . .“We must learn from brexit: Elderly xenophobes will lie to pollsters to hide their racist views, then vote for destructive policies anyway.”

He then tells us that Nigel has periodically made use of racist slang (which may be true for all I know).

But this is all he proof he presents!
So I ask . . .Did Nigel Farage (and Donald Trump . . .expressly state racist policies in order to solicit a racist mentality in their polling?)
Well no I can't find anything that can be called a racial policy they are advocating, anywhere. . .

and nobody else can either,

BUT wait a minute they will say, didn't trump make racist remarks about Mexicans? And doesn't Farage want to keep middle eastern people out of Britain.

No that is not actually the issue at all.

So Adam Taylor, after establishing the racist appellate, then finally goes on to discuss the actual issues which as in the USA is Immigration policy which is exactly the issue that got Trump his racist label.

The Bottom line is, everybody who lives in any kind of a poverty situation be it the oft quoted ‘Polish Plumber’ or the Syrian refugee or all the other types in between, wants to live in the far more appealing conditions they see in the US or in GB.

Immigration. . . Its not about Race

Nobody asks the most obvious question of all. . .

Do you see a lot of Britons trying to immigrate to Afghanistan or Poland? Are they sneaking in desperately trying to find a passage to a new home in Iraq or Yemen? Is it not obvious that the traffic is all one way? Why wouldn't the locals feel a bit threatened by this massive influx?

Just look at the immigration statistics, Adam Taylor does go on to present them so, have a look its scary!

Then he says that the ‘Leave Campaign spoke of issues such as sovereignty and economics but the immigration issue far outweighs them all.
“polls clearly showed that immigration was one of the most, if not the most, important factor for voters. “Immigration is by far the best issue for the ‘Leave’ campaign,” Freddie Sayers, editor in chief of the polling firm YouGov, wrote. “If the coming referendum were only a decision on immigration, the Leave campaign would win by a landslide.”

The Politics of Murder

And the he goes on to discuss the politics surrounding the murder of MP Jo Cox

http://i4.mirror.co.uk/incoming/article8227898.ece/ALTERNATES/s615b/16DEC_Jo-Cox.jpg

The man alleged to have shot and stabbed Cox, a pro-"remain" campaigner and supporter of refugees, is said to have shouted "Britain first" and had links to U.S. white-supremacy groups.

And Then we Find out

He was someone with mental health issues who lived down the road from Jo Cox, at the time who was involved in an altercation with somebody else and Jo just happened to be nearby and was murdered senselessly in an effort to break up a petty fracas.

Nobody shouted ‘Britain first’

There was absolutely no link to any political view or anything else. But by the time they had established the truth, a racist attack connected to the Brexit campaign was all over the media.

So back to Taylor, he does point out that there are plenty of non white Britain's who are in favour of Brexit, but this is a conciliatory gesture, the Racist label has already been stuck.

This tactic is reminiscent of the TV courtroom drama in which we see the prosecutor attempts to lead a witness and humbly agrees to “withdraw the question” when challenged by the defence, but nevertheless uses it as a ploy to prejudice the jury.

Thats it for today
but, in the words of another famous Politician. . .
I'll be Back
